Hull youngsters hoping to follow in the footsteps of their footballing heroes have been given a boost – thanks to developer Linden Homes North.
Players from the recently formed Priory Leopards Under 8’s football team are now proudly showing off their brand new kit, sponsored by the Hessle-based house builder.
Although Priory FC has been an established club in the Hull Sunday Boys Football League for around 15 years, this latest team is a mixed team for Year 3 (ages seven and eight) boys and girls.
And with a new season under way, the youngsters have had the chance to give their new kit an airing on the pitch during training and on match days.
The team is being coached and managed by Tony Chambers, who has been involved at the club for the past two years.
Tony and his wife Nicola were the first residents to move into a Linden home at the Lindenwood development on Kingswood Parks in Hull, with sons Charlie and Alfie, in 2012.
Qualified football coach Tony said: “We approached Linden Homes to see if they would be interested in helping out with the new kits, and to our delight they said yes.
“I’ve really enjoyed helping out at the club and coaching one of the older teams, but am thrilled to have this opportunity to manage, run and coach my own team.”
He added: “Everyone involved with the team is very grateful to Linden Homes for their support and generosity.”
Linden Homes North sales manager Julie Hubbard said: “This is a fantastic community facility, and we are really pleased to be doing our bit to support the children, the parents and the volunteers who make it all happen.
“It was really nice to hear from Tony and Nicola, and to know that as our first residents at Lindenwood, they continue to enjoy their home and the development in general.”
