Are You Sitting Comfortably? Developer Helps To Enhance Local Beauty Spot
21 Dec 2016

For villagers and visitors to Riverside Walkway, a North Ferriby beauty spot – taking a seat and enjoying the views have become a little more painful and less pleasant of late.

The two well-used public seats that front the River Humber, beside the pavement boat and information boards at Riverside Walkway have seen better days since their installation 26 years ago.

As part of North Ferriby Parish Council’s plans to spruce up the seating area at the local beauty spot, which is popular with dog walkers, walkers, families and cyclists - developer Linden Homes East Yorkshire has paid for one of the seats to be replaced with a brand new one to help enhance the enjoyment of visitors.

The Riverside Walkway is also part the Wolds Way and Trans Pennine Trail, and the parish council estimates that thousands of people visited the site last year. North Ferriby Parish Council is now appealing to other local companies to help replace the outstanding seat on Riverside Walkway that needs replacing.

Pat Lambert, parish council clerk said: “The site was bought by the parish council nearly 40 years ago when it was a disused land fill. The council has worked tirelessly to make it what it is today - a wonderful attraction to visitors.

“We are very proud of its location and endeavour to keep it in good condition through voluntary help whenever possible. Our huge thanks to Linden Homes for their generous donation which has paid for a brand new seat on Riverside Walkway – which boasts a history of the village dating back to the Bronze Age.”

Linden Homes East Yorkshire sales manager Julie Hubbard added: “North Ferriby is such a lovely village, which is well used and well-kept by volunteers and the parish council. We are delighted to be able to help in some small way through our contribution, and we hope the seat, positioned facing the River Humber, will bring pleasure to many visitors from near and far over a number of years.”

There is a last chance to buy at Spire View, with the final four-bedroom detached home – ready to move into in early 2017.

Linden Homes East Yorkshire is also building at nearby Swanland and in Hessle.
