Wallingford Students Get A Helping Hand For Their Trip To Kenya
23 Jan 2015

Twelve students from Wallingford School, who are hoping to travel to Kenya as part of a programme to help HIV orphans, have been given a helping hand by Linden Homes.

The students came to Cholsey Meadows, the Linden Homes development in the village of Cholsey, to accept a cheque from the house building company towards the cost of the trip.

During their Kenyan adventure, the students, under the guidance of the Abingdon based Nasio Trust, will be helping to construct buildings and will work with the orphaned children, painting, creating memory books and devising other games and activities.

15 year old Poppy Taylor is one of the students:

“We want to give these children the opportunities we had when we were growing up. Not only will we be helping the local community but we will also try to ensure these children can have the education they deserve – and live a happy life – even without parents.”

Naomi Burrell is Linden Homes’ marketing and communications manager:

“These students have shown amazing dedication already: They’ve spent months raising the thousands they need to go to Kenya. And the fact that these young people want to go out there and do what they can to improve the lives of these children is very commendable. We are delighted to be able to help them achieve their goal.”
