St Michael's Place Taking Shape In Waterlooville
28 Mar 2013

The beautiful new homes at St Michael’s Place in Waterlooville are beginning to take shape in the grounds of the old convent – despite the recent bitterly cold and extremely wet weather conditions.

Linden Homes is creating a collection of 3 & 4 bedroom houses and a selection of 1 & 2 bedroom apartments and, inside the grade II listed convent building, they will be redesigning and refurbishing the space to create a series of 2 & 3 bedroom apartments.

And, at this early stage, when the homes are being built, reservations are being made off plan. This gives you the opportunity to select your home from the wide choice of different styles available at St Michael’s Place – and take your pick from the plots available.

Buying off plan also means that you can choose your kitchen, your bathroom tiles, appliances, flooring and other items depending, of course, on the stage of construction of your new home.

Reservations are already being taken and the first residents are expected to move in in June or July.

St Michael’s Convent dates back to 1885 and is approached down a tree lined avenue next to The Green – an elegant sweep of lawn that takes your eye down to the old Sacred Heart Church, which is being preserved and converted so it can eventually be used by local community groups.

St Michael’s Place is located in the heart of Waterlooville, an historic Hampshire town around 8 miles north of Portsmouth and 10 miles to the south of Petersfield.

Legend has it that the town was named after the local Heroes of Waterloo pub. The story goes that the pub was re-christened on its opening day after a group of soldiers who had disembarked from Portsmouth following their victory at Waterloo in 1815, arrived at the pub to celebrate. It’s said that many of the men stayed and settled in Waterlooville.

The convent building at St Michael’s was built seventy years after the Battle of Waterloo, and until recently had played an important role in the life of the town.

To help you to become a part of this latest chapter in the life of St Michael’s, Linden Homes is offering NewBuy and its own Part Exchange Scheme.

NewBuy is a government led scheme that works in partnership with major high street lenders. This innovative scheme is designed to help you buy your new Linden home with just a 5% deposit and secure a 95% mortgage. It is available to anyone – not just first time buyers – as long as the property being purchased is valued at £500,000 or less.

Mark Docherty, Linden Homes’ sales and marketing director points out that Linden Homes has its own incentives too:

“Our Part Exchange Scheme has worked really well for lots of our customers. It is Linden Homes’ own incentive and is designed to help make your move smoother. Under the scheme Linden Homes effectively becomes the guaranteed buyer of your existing property and will take it off your hands for 100% of its market value. This means you don’t have to worry about marketing your old home or paying estate agents’ fees. Linden Homes will sort all that out for you, freeing you up to purchase your new Linden Home at St Michael’s Place.”
