Linden Homes' prize-winning zero-carbon development at Graylingwell Park, Chichester, is in the running for the Building Awards 2012 Sustainable Project of the Year.
The 750-home scheme in West Sussex has made the shortlist for the ceremony on April 18 as the largest carbon-neutral housing project in the country, and has already won a string of titles for its ground-breaking design.
It features its own energy centre to provide hot water, 1,812 square metres of solar panels, an off-site wind turbine, and comprehensive home insulation to balance its carbon footprint to a net zero.
Trophies it scooped last year included gold in the Best Sustainable Development category of the What House? Awards, and the Community and Residential prize in the CHPA Awards.
Linden Homes has been nominated alongside its partners on the scheme, Affinity Sutton and the Homes and Communities Agency.
Graylingwell Park is in the third year of a 10-year development and will ultimately boast artists’ studios, a café and shop, a community hall, sports grounds, cycle routes, regular buses to Chichester and a farmers’ market.
Linden Homes Guildford managing director Peter Youll said: "It is wonderful to have had this development recognised so many times, and we’re hoping to add this latest award to our expanding trophy case.
“It is deeply satisfying to see this kind of praise and it is a really great outcome for a project which is leading the way in how to sensitively deliver quality homes, which are environmentally friendly and where people are eager to live.”
