Forget the carnival colours and atmosphere of Brazil – fundraisers from our Midlands region staged their own World Cup Mardi Gras.
Staff at the Peterborough office staged a dress-down day with a difference to celebrate the footballing festival while also raising funds for the local Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall hospice appeal.
Those who opted to ditch the work wear in favour of a football shirt or even the whole kit, gave a donation, while national team shirts were auctioned off prior to England’s match with Costa Rica.
The event raised an estimated £400 and culminated in Linden Homes supplying after work refreshments and the chance for staff to watch the game.
Linden Homes Midlands finance director Fraser Hopes said: “What better occasion than the World Cup to bring staff together with a bit of fun that also helps an extremely worthwhile cause.”
Nilesh Patel, regional fundraiser at Thorpe Hall in Peterborough – where work on a £6 million new hospice is due to start in September – said: “On behalf of everyone involved with Thorpe Hall and the appeal, a huge thanks to Linden Homes for their continued support.”
