A government minister hailed our Chiltern region for its “magnificent” development of Cholsey Meadows in Oxfordshire.
Ed Vaizey, who is MP for Wantage and Didcot and minister for culture, communications and creative industries, visited the collection of more than 350 homes which includes the refurbishment of former hospital buildings plus retail and public open space.
During the visit in September, Mr Vaizey met an apprentice carpenter and was also shown the site’s original cricket pavilion, which Linden Homes has restored.
He said: “Sites such as this present excellent opportunities to provide new and sustainable communities but it is how they are delivered that is crucial to their future success. Cholsey Meadows seems to be a prime example of how to get such projects right.”
Jeremy Alden, Linden Homes Chiltern technical director, added: “The team was delighted that Mr Vaizey could spare the time to visit the scheme and after the hard work that has been carried out so far, we were especially pleased to receive his positive feedback.”
Mr Vaizey’s comments follow another MP’s visit to one of our Chiltern developments, this time by Anne Main to King Harry Park in St Albans. She said: “It’s good to see that the homes have been designed in a sympathetic manner.”
