Our sensitive transformation of Royal Barham House in Truro has been recognised with the title of Best Large Housing Development in the South West LABC Building Excellence Awards.
Lovingly restored by our South West region in partnership with DCH, the result has breathed new life into Cornwall’s former Royal Infirmary and provided 19 beautiful apartments.
Located to the south of the city centre on the west side of Infirmary Hill, Cornwall's first hospital was originally constructed in the late 1790s and served the community for over 200 years before it finally closed in 1999.
The Local Authority Building Control Building Excellence Awards are only given to the very best projects from across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset. Winners proceed onto the National LABC Grand Final Awards, which will be held in November in London.
Linden Homes South West managing director Nigel Palmer said: “Site manager Jerry Dawkins and his team have worked tirelessly to create Royal Barham House and it’s testament to their team building skills, hard work and dedication that they have managed to deliver this award winning development to such a high standard. It’s certainly a building we can all be very proud of.”
