A thriving education partnership has been forged between our South West region and Combe Pafford Business and Enterprise School based in Torquay.
The school caters for over 180 young people who have moderate learning difficulties, physical difficulties or autism. It features a construction centre where visiting students are also taught plumbing, bricklaying, electrical installation, painting and decorating.
We have got involved by hosting the first of a series of taster days at our Rowes Meadow development in Stoke Gabriel, Devon, for the pupils to see first-hand how a building site works.
Caroline Milner, school careers adviser, said: “We were looking for a suitable business partner to give our vocational students an opportunity to have a real experience of what it would be like to work in the construction industry and are pleased to have gained the support of Linden Homes.
“Our construction tutors believe that students really benefit from seeing how an on-going construction site operates.”
