Good cause: Shooting Star House in Hampton, south-west London
Two teams from our Guildford region got into the swing at a special charity golf day to help raise £10,000 for two children’s hospices.
The money went to Shooting Star Chase, a charity for families living in western London, Surrey and West Sussex who have a child or teenager suffering a life-limiting condition. Its two hospices are Christopher's in Guildford and Shooting Star House, Hampton.
The fundraiser was named Gracie’s Golf Day in memory of a little girl who received care at Shooting Star House and whose family organised it. In 2011 the event at Sutton Green Golf Club collected over £10,000 – and with our help this year’s in July succeeded in matching it.
Our Guildford office entered two teams of four people, including land director Kevin MacKenzie and senior land manager Steve Brownlie. A Linden Homes banner decorated the 18th hole, kindly donated by Reade Signs.
Linden Homes Guildford managing director Peter Youll said: “Our staff are always keen to get involved in events like these which are great fun but more importantly raise so much money for such good causes.
“It shows yet again our determination not just to build quality homes but also to support and contribute to communities.”
