At Linden Homes Guildford we have succeeded in recycling more and more building waste after working harder than ever.

In March we recycled 96 per cent of rubbish coming from sites around the region, such as rubble, timber and metals, sustainably saving it from being transported to landfill sites to be buried.

Out of nearly 157 tonnes, just 5.8 tonnes was sent to landfill, and the excellent performance was credited to workers’ dedication to keeping to guidelines that make the most of discarded material.

These included conscientiously dividing rubbish into separate waste categories, a ban on “general waste” skips, and working with a company to recycle wooden pallets free of charge.

Linden Homes Guildford managing director Peter Youll said: “I congratulate all the building teams who have worked so carefully to achieve this figure. It’s an example to the industry of what can be achieved.

“Recycling material in this way is another instance of our dedication to being more eco-friendly – benefitting the environment, cutting landfill and working with the community.”
