Dedication: pupils from Wallingford School with Cholsey Meadows sales executive Diane Taylor
Twelve pupils from Wallingford School, who are hoping to travel to Kenya as part of a programme to assist HIV orphans, have been given a helping hand by our Chiltern region.
The students came to Cholsey Meadows, our development in the village of Cholsey, to accept a cheque from us towards the cost of the trip.
During their Kenyan adventure the students, under the guidance of the Abingdon-based Nasio Trust, will help to construct buildings and will work with the orphaned children, painting, creating memory books and devising other games and activities.
Student Poppy Taylor (15) said: “We want to give these children the opportunities we had when we were growing up. Not only will we be helping the local community but we will also try to ensure these children can have the education they deserve – and live a happy life – even without parents.”
Naomi Burrell is Linden Homes’ marketing and communications manager and she added: “These students have shown amazing dedication already: They’ve spent months raising the thousands they need to go to Kenya.
“And the fact that these young people want to go out there and do what they can to improve the lives of these children is very commendable. We are delighted to be able to help them achieve their goal.”
