One of the team from our South West region has the Exeter half-marathon is her sights to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
PR Manager Emma Mackay will be among 350 people on Saturday February 14th taking on the challenge of completing 13 miles over three laps of roads, footpaths and cycle tracks around the River Exe and Exeter Canal.
Emma is aiming to raise £500 and her inspiration is her father-in-law, Brian, who in January 2011 was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease – also known as ALS, the condition which inspired the viral Ice Bucket Challenge.
Emma explained: “MND is a progressive disease that attacks the nerves or motor neurones in the brain and spinal cord; it can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe and there is no cure – yet.
“Brian's positivity and Scottish fighting spirit means he's prepared for battle and he is surrounded by family and friends who love and support him every step of the way.”
