Working hard: Kingston Mills in Bradford-on-Avon has low-carbon air source heat pumps

A string of projects in our western region shows how hard we’re working to reduce the impact our developments have on the environment.

At Kingston Mills, Bradford-on-Avon, we installed air source heat pumps in a block of apartments to cut residents’ energy bills and their carbon footprint, just as we often fit solar panels to other homes up and down the country.

To cut delivery miles at the same development, we also reused rubble from demolishing the old buildings to assist constructing the foundations of the stunning collection of new properties which have taken their place.

And at Meadow Grove, Newent, we built soakaway drainage to release rainwater slowly and forestall flooding problems. There we also re-used excavated rock to avoid having it delivered by lorry again, just as we did too at Cricketers View, Hanham.

Meanwhile, at Raikes Chase, Gloucester, we gave residents smart meters so they could keep track of their energy use and find ways to reduce their bills.

Linden Homes Western sales director Adrian Bird said: “We redevelop a lot of brownfield sites to avoid building in the countryside, but that doesn’t mean we can become complacent about our impact on the environment.

“There’s no magic bullet that will suddenly make a development greener – it’s through the effort of implementing a series of measures from our years of experience and know-how.”
