We are continuing our commitment to local communities by recruiting teams of local contractors to help transform the site of a former derelict hospital in Oxfordshire.
The Cholsey Meadows scheme by the village of Cholsey, in south Oxfordshire, is a joint venture with Thomas Homes and has refurbished the old hospital facilities, which closed in 2003, into over 100 apartments, plus 200 houses in the parkland grounds.
Among the firms recruited from around the county are plumbers, plasterers, scaffolders and bricklayers, some of whom are based as close as a few miles away.
Using local labour not only gives a much needed boost to the area’s economy but encourages a quality product from companies eager to show their skills so close to their headquarters.
Linden Homes Chiltern managing director Darren Maddox said: “We understand the importance of easing these new homes into the community, and by using local workers and businesses the area will begin to benefit as the first brick is laid.
“We are proud of this development and with the planned new community facilities which include a new cricket pavilion and the Great Hall, we are confident it will be a boost to the neighbourhood.”
In partnership with registered provider SOHA housing, a percentage of the homes are social rented or shared ownership.
