Poetic pupils give a literary twist to new homes

Talented youngsters from a Cambridgeshire school helped our Midlands region add a literary twist to one of its show homes.

To celebrate Peterborough’s Festival of Poetry and Literature, children from John Clare Primary School at Helpston have been honouring their famous namesake with a collection of poems inspired by the 19th century wordsmith.

The youngsters’ works are now on show at our Poet’s Corner development in the village – where some of the house types have been named after other well-known poets including Byron, Burns and Keats.

Headteacher Rachel Simmons said: “To be invited by Linden Homes to display some of the pupils’ work has been a real joy and we hope that visitors enjoy reading the poems – which not only celebrate John Clare but support Peterborough’s efforts to raise the profile of poetry and literature.”

Linden Homes Midlands sales director Chris Roads added: “We were delighted to invite some of the youngsters and teachers to our development and thrilled that they were kind enough to allow us to display some of their work as part of our on-going links with the communities in which we build.”

Poet’s Corner comprises 42 three and four-bedroom homes in a private cul-de-sac just eight miles from Peterborough and seven miles from Stamford.
