We are refurbishing a war memorial in a Hertfordshire village as part of a national campaign to honour the 100th anniversary of the First World War.
The Grade II listed brick and stone structure features brass plaques and sits in a green space in front of the new Nash Mills Wharf development overlooking the Grand Union Canal, but has fallen into disrepair over the years.
When Linden Homes Chiltern bought the land it promised to fix up the precious feature as part of the In Memoriam 2014 initiative’s push to repair memorials around the country.
We enlisted specialists to assess the structure and research its history to make sure repairs are carried out sensitively, and are working with Dacorum Borough Council to make sure its plans will be welcomed by the villagers of Nash Mills.
Linden Homes Chiltern managing director Darren Maddox said: “I’m very proud for us to be playing a part in this project to help refresh the country’s commemoration of those who gave their lives nearly 100 years ago.
“It is vital for us to get involved in the communities where we build and leave not just quality homes but a legacy of improvements. I am sure our expert advice and attention will repair this memorial for the village in a way that its residents will be very happy with.”
The benefits of buying new make the choice easy. Here are just a few:
