When a student wrote to us asking for help to raise £5,000 towards supplying a village in Africa with clean water we were delighted to help.
The letter was sent by Henry Toogood on behalf of a 28-strong group from Catmose College in Oakham who are building funds for 500 residents of Eugemot in Ghana to also pay for basic sanitation and expanding the local orphanage.
The students plan to travel out and help with construction and as well as jewellery-making and chopping wood, recently held a live music and family event – for which we supplied the PA system.
The fundraiser was at Oakham where our Midlands region is building a collection of new homes at the popular Orchid development.
Linden Homes area sales manager Karen Pitcher described Henry’s letter as “fantastic” and added: “We were delighted to make a contribution and wish the students every success with this very worthwhile cause and look forward to hearing of their progress.”
Henry added: “This project is a huge undertaking for us and we know it will not be easy. We will have to take on huge amounts of new knowledge and learn many new skills, but this experience will be with us for life.”
Linden Homes has contributed over £1.2 million to health care services in the UK since 2010.
