Delighted: (l-r) Mr and Mrs Orsler with site manager Pip Swan at Discovery Quarter
One of our site managers was surprised to be greeted with a present of Champagne from a resident overjoyed at the reopening of a footpath in Exeter.
The link, which goes through Discovery Quarter, had been shut several years ago by the original developer, from whom we took over the site before completing it in quick time.
Before it was closed the route had been used by retired history teacher and writer Michael Orsler (80) as a handy shortcut towards the city centre to avoid a steep hill. So when Pip Swan took down the hoardings and started clearing the route, Mr Orsler was so pleased he immediately presented him with a bottle of bubbly.
Pip said: “I was stunned – but very pleasantly surprised – to see Mr Orsler and his wife there as a very friendly welcoming committee.
“Since Linden Homes got involved at this site we have turned this project around, and it’s very rewarding for the whole team that these residents are so happy with our work.”
