Discussion: (l-r) Karl McCartney MP, Barry Maynard and apprentices Dan Wells and George Young
Lincoln MP Karl McCartney praised our Midlands region for its new homes at Oasis, a stunning development in the city next to the Fossdyke Canal.
The high quality housing has transformed the site of the former E2V factory, which Mr McCartney visited during construction of the final phase of 255 much-needed houses and apartments.
He was shown around by Linden Homes Midlands technical director Barry Maynard. They discussed local challenges facing the industry, and our national apprenticeship scheme which aims to recruit 500 apprentices over the next few years – including three currently at the Oasis site itself.
Mr McCartney said: “It was great to have had the opportunity to visit Linden’s site, which has positively transformed the area.
“I was impressed by the scheme which I thought was both attractive in design and sympathetic to the existing residents in the area. It is a beautiful setting next to the canal and a fantastic development.”
He added: “Apprenticeships play an important role in helping young people gain employment, and I’m pleased that Linden is placing so much emphasis on investing in them.”
