Help for housing: London needs an estimated 42,000 new homes every year

To help tackle the shortage of homes in London, we’ve published a Manifesto for Housing to offer solutions and cooperation.

By 2030, London’s population is predicted to reach 10 million so our manifesto seeks to support the combined effort to hit the 42,000 houses that Mayor Boris Johnson has stated need to be built each year.

We’ve emphasised the need for joint action between communities, housebuilders and planning authorities to help build more houses more quickly to give more families somewhere to live.

Increased housing also brings investment back into London’s local economies as well as jobs, training and business opportunities.

Andrew Richards, Linden Homes Group Managing Director, said: “Our Manifesto for Housing in London is about how housebuilders, planning authorities and communities can work together better as a partnership.

“Without sufficient homes, prices will keep rising and drive out more ordinary home buyers from the capital.”
