We made a real splash when we entered two teams into a charity dragon boat competition held at the famous Dorney Lake Olympic rowing venue.
The fundraising event on June 29th was organised by the Rotary Club of High Wycombe, and our Chiltern region sent about 25 people to make up two crews: the Chiltern Chargers and the Blazing Paddles.
Our presence added hundreds of pounds to the good causes that were being supported which this year were towards Kids in Sport, which helps youngsters overcome obstacles to get more involved in activities, and the Lily Foundation, which funds support and research into Mitochondrial Disease.
We contributed £550 this time following our effort last year at the inaugural event where helped raise hundreds of pounds for a variety of organisations including Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance and South Bucks Hospice.
Linden Homes Chiltern acting managing director Jo Alden said: “We had a great time getting involved with the fundraising last year at the dragon boat races so we were really keen to join in again.
“It’s a brilliant event that collects money for some very deserving causes. Well done to the Rotary Club of High Wycombe for organising it.”
