Action! The filming was done on the part of King Harry Park that is still under construction
King Harry Park in St Albans is starring as a location in a major British movie being made for international release.
‘The World’s End’ boasts Hollywood names such as British actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost among others, and follows on from the wildly successful action comedies ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘Hot Fuzz’.
The latest production will be a sci-fi adventure, and scenes were shot in October at King Harry Park using the remaining section of the site that is still under construction. The film-makers also made use of a dumper truck and JCB forklift, plus drivers.
Although it will be a while before audiences get to see the finished result, a more immediate winner will be the recipient of £1,500 which the producers offered to pay to a local good cause as a way of saying thank you for Linden Homes’ cooperation.
Linden Homes Chiltern managing director Darren Maddox said: “This was an unusual request but we were very happy to help and I hope the finished film will be a big box office success.
“We take pride in being more than just a housebuilder so it’s important for us to get involved with all sorts of special projects. When activities like this one end up with a boost for local good causes, it’s even better!”
