As polling day approaches, we’ve published our own manifesto for housing in a bid to inform the debate and help ease the housing crisis.
We issued ‘Housing our Nation – a Manifesto’ to the main parliamentary candidates running in the approximately 400 or so constituencies which our business regions cover.
The document highlights that last year work was started on 137,000 new homes overall in England – an increase of 10 per cent on the year before but still far short of the 240,000 it is estimated needs to be built.
Andrew Richards, Linden Homes Group Managing Director, said: “We welcome the ideas and attention paid to the housing shortage by the political parties in this general election.
“But the fact remains that to solve the housing shortage we need to focus on the factors which will allow us to build more homes.
“Our six-stage manifesto lays out the way forward to boost the UK’s housing supply. They are plans that, in our experience, will provide much-needed new homes but also new jobs, investment, economic growth and local facilities.”
