Back to school: Ivor Goodsite with children at Prae Wood Primary
Children learned lessons about taking care around construction sites when the building industry’s safety mascot came to visit a school in St Albans.
Our Chiltern region arranged for Ivor Goodsite to drop by Prae Wood Primary School in June to help raise awareness among the pupils of the hazards to the unwary of heavy materials, large vehicles and other dangers.
Ivor posed for photos with the youngsters and handed out goody bags containing treats such as stickers, colouring pencils and books.
The initiative is run by the Considerate Constructors Scheme, of which Linden Homes is a member. It started in 1997 and aims to banish the old reputation of the building industry and encourage sites to be more thoughtful towards neighbours.
Linden Homes Chiltern managing director Darren Maddox said: “Ivor Goodsite had a great response from the children, and the accessible way the issues were presented meant they learned valuable lessons.
“It’s vital that companies like us take responsibility beyond the limits of our developments and play a full role in supporting and getting involved in communities. It’s something we are doing and pledge to continue.”
