Our Chiltern region helped add hundreds of pounds to a fundraising dragon boat race in aid of local good causes.
The team of 10 in red wigs – named the Chiltern Chargers – gathered at the famous Eton Dorney Olympic lake for the inaugural Dragon Boat Challenge organised by the Rotary Club of High Wycombe.
The event attracted a total of 36 crews who were all collecting for a variety of community organisations including South Bucks Hospice and the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance.
The races were open to all abilities, ranging from businesses to families, and the Chiltern Chargers had hoped to scoop the HAP Architects trophy for the best placed developer team.
Sadly, despite winning one race we failed to make the semi-finals but nevertheless a great time was by all in great weather, a fun atmosphere and cheering crowds of supporters – plus we raised £400.
Linden Homes Chiltern technical director Jeremy Alden said: “Thank you again to all of those that came, and to those who sponsored us. It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon, and I hope that we will do it all again next year.”
