Times past: an old photo of patients at Royal Barham House
Our South West region has appealed to the community for past photos to pay tribute to the history of a derelict old infirmary in Truro we’re bringing to life with new apartments.
The photographs will be used in the communal areas of the newly refurbished building, Royal Barham House, which in partnership with Westco Properties we are transforming into 19 luxury new two-bedroom apartments.
Linden Homes South West sales and marketing manager Jules Miller-Wilson said: “Royal Barham House is such a beautiful building and it has a wonderful, rich heritage. We wanted to pay tribute to its history so residents and their visitors can remember its important past.
“We are fortunate enough to have some photographs, but we would love more. If you or a member of your family stayed in the hospital then we would love to hear from you!”
Located to the south of the city centre on the west side of Infirmary Hill, Cornwall’s first hospital was originally constructed in the late 1790s, opening with just 20 beds. It served the community for over 200 years, before it finally closed in 1999.
