Our South West region was awarded a high commendation at the 2014 LABC Building Excellence Awards Grand Finals for our Royal Barham House development in Truro.
The restoration of the city’s former Royal Infirmary – in partnership with DCH – was highly praised in the category of Best High Volume New Housing Development at the awards ceremony in London.
The Grade II listed Cornwall Royal Infirmary shut in 1999 and we have transformed the building into 19 beautiful apartments. Fifty craftsmen restored the Lancashire stone, and the 185 stunning sash windows were all painstakingly refurbished or replaced.
LABC chief executive Paul Everall said: “This was an ambitious project on a building steeped in history, but left in such a derelict state that restoring it whilst maintaining high regulation standards seemed an almost impossible feat.
“As a result, I highly commend the work of Linden Homes and DCH, who meticulously planned and constructed a visually impressive structure with many of its historical features restored.”
Nigel Palmer, Linden Homes South West managing director, said: “Site manager Jerry Dawkins and his team have worked tirelessly to create Royal Barham House and it’s testament to their team building skills, hard work and dedication that they have managed to deliver this award winning development to such a high standard.”
