Aspiring Mary Berrys from our Midlands region cooked up some smashing sponges and perfect pastries to rival even the Great British Bake Off.
Star bakers for the day at the Peterborough office were Janice Browne, Maria Smith and Sam Boylan who tempted colleagues with their selection of sweet treats – raising an estimated £150 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Their efforts were part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning fundraising event on September 27th when up and down the country tasty treats were sold alongside teas and coffees.
It has been running for 23 years, and last year 115,000 volunteers signed up as hosts for the event, raising £15 million.
Linden Homes coffee morning organiser Janice said: “It was a really enjoyable morning and our huge thanks to all the staff who supported the event.”
The Midlands region is now stranger fundraising and presented a cheque for just over £4,000 to the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall hospice appeal in Peterborough, collected through a number of staff events.
