Furniture donation on the table for autism charity

Dinner time: residents sit down to enjoy their first meal at one of the new tables

Our Southern region stepped in to help an autism charity update some of its old furniture with a brand new set.

We donated two sofas and two dining sets to Autism Wessex for use in their Life Skills College and one of their adult residential homes based in Christchurch.

The new furniture arrivals also inspired a bit of redecoration, including creating a new and improved common room for college students and replacing one of the old tables which was attached to a wall in the residential home. Now residents can all get the round the table to enjoy a meal together.

Founded in 1968 by parents of children with autism, Autism Wessex is a regional charity providing high quality specialist services for people affected by autism and associated difficulties across the counties of Dorset, Somerset, Hampshire and Wiltshire.

Autism Wessex’s community and events fundraiser Becky Chalk said: “Staff, students and residents are delighted to have the new furniture. The people we support particularly enjoy being able to eat all together. We’re very grateful to Linden Homes for their help and support.”

Tina Chalk, Linden Homes Southern marketing manager, added: “We saw an opportunity to help Autism Wessex and I’m really glad the furniture has been so well received – and inspired a bit of decorating too! We’re very happy to have lent a hand.”
