Determined: Gavin Alemanno with Linden Homes Midlands sales executive Iris Bailey
A father-of-two is continuing his recovery from a brain tumour by training for a half-marathon with fundraising support from our Midlands region.
The challenge is a huge turnaround for Perkins worker Gavin Alemanno (34), from Ramsey in Cambridgeshire. He was unable to walk and talk after undergoing a 21-hour operation at Addenbrookes in Cambridge.
He spent a month in hospital and is now determined to show his gratitude by collecting for the Brain Tumour Charity. Our Midlands region is backing him by promising to match his initial fundraising target of £200.
Gavin, who aims to complete the Perkins Great Eastern Run on October 13th, said: “Myself and my family have really been through some hard times since my diagnosis and surgery, but I am thankful I am still alive and really want to try and raise money for a charity that has a personal meaning.”
Gavin was introduced to Linden Homes by Iris Bailey, a sales executive at our Yes! development in St Ives who is also Gavin’s former mother-in-law.
Iris said: “He is a very determined person and I am thrilled that Linden Homes is backing his amazing efforts.”
