Our Tithe Barn development will feature one, two, three and four bedroom high quality homes and are being built to level four of the Code for Sustainable Homes, which will reduce energy usage and have a positive impact on utility bills for all residents. Behind this is a state-of-the-art district heating network which includes remote metering technology so homeowners can keep track of how much energy they’re using.
Across the entire development, it is estimated that this new system will provide 7,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide savings per year – or the equivalent of removing 2,500 cars from the road.
Brian Deacon, sales and marketing director for Linden Homes, said: “We wanted to give homebuyers an opportunity to learn more about Tithe Barn’s energy efficiency benefits. The district heating network is fascinating and while we’ve provided details on how it works, it’s not quite the same as someone explaining it to you and being able to ask questions. Kate Jenkins from E.ON will be at the event and will kindly run through how the system works, discuss the potential money and energy savings and explain the environmental advantages.”
In addition to the district heating network, each property will also include cycle storage, increased levels of insulation to ensure heat loss is kept to a minimum and responsibly sourced materials will be used wherever possible.
Brian added: “The development offers high quality, energy efficient homes from an award winning housebuilder, it’s located on the outskirts of Exeter with excellent transport links, so Tithe Barn really does have a huge amount to offer.”
All waste plasterboard is recycled and used in the manufacture of new plasterboard products.
The blocks we use to build your home are the most energy efficient available and 80% of material within the blocks is recycled material - this saves heat loss from our homes and thus reduces CO2 emissions.
