Donation helps sheep farmer protect his lambs

We usually recycle our leftover building material but this time our North East region instead donated some of it to help out a farmer in need.

The stone and timber was from our stunning Centurion Park development in Haltwhistle in Northumberland. Rather than become a house for humans it will instead be turned into a sheep shelter to give protection for lambs in the spring.

Centurion Park site manager Stevie Foster said: “We are working on the last few homes at the development now and there were some materials which would normally have been sent for recycling when one of the subcontractors working at the site asked if we would donate them to a farmer friend.

“Knowing what a tough time the farming community has been through over the past few years, we had no hesitation in agreeing. Whenever possible we like to support the communities where we work and this seemed an ideal opportunity.”

Simon Dalton, a farmer at Greenside Farm, Hallbankgate, added: “It has been something of a struggle for our industry recently so support like this is greatly appreciated.

“Once we get this year’s lambing over we will use the materials to build an isolation pen which will help with the process next year.”
