We’ve cut the ground at a development in County Durham where new technology will make the homes up to 25 per cent more energy efficient than standard dwellings.
The collection of high quality affordable properties in Chilton is a £2 million partnership project between Linden Homes’ parent company, Galliford Try, and Home Group and Durham County Council.
To cut energy wastage, every home will feature the latest condensing boilers, energy saving lighting, double glazing, insulated walls, cycle storage and rainwater harvesting. Recycling and composting facilities are available to each household too.
At the sod-cutting ceremony were Galliford Try design co-ordinator David Atkinson, operations director Foster Innes, Cllr Eddie Tomlinson and Home Group development manager Tony Osbourne.
Foster Innes said: “Partnerships like this can play a pivotal role in transforming local communities and we are confident that the new development at Chilton will breathe fresh life into this area of County Durham, providing much needed affordable housing.”
Tony Osborne added: “As a social housing provider we’re committed to delivering homes which help transform peoples’ lives and we’re delighted to be working with Galliford Try on this.”
