Cutting the food miles with welcome for farmers market

Busy: the farmers market is held in the Lamb Yard part of Kingston Mills, Bradford-on-Avon

We’re helping to reduce food miles and boost local producers by hosting a regular farmers market at our award-winning Kingston Mills development in Bradford-on-Avon.

Stalls are set up in the Lamb Yard part of the new quarter where a set of Grade I listed industrial buildings by the river have been revived. The event is delivered by the Wiltshire Farmers’ Markets Association and co-operative project Made in Bradford-on-Avon.

Among the array of produce and artisan items are cheeses, baked goods, vegetables, handbags and mirrors. It helps local trade, cuts delivery distances and gives a boost to organic growers.

The development being delivered by our Western region comprises apartments and homes, shops, restaurants and public open space. One block of apartments also features eco-friendly air source heat pumps to cut residents’ energy bills and carbon footprint.

Kingston Mills also made waves this year by winning Best Regeneration Project at the Housebuilder Awards, and the Mixed Use category in the Sunday Times British Homes Awards.

Linden Homes Western managing director Clive Wiltshire said: “We’re delighted that such a successful mixed-use regeneration project should continue to support green principles and the local economy with this fantastic farmers market.”
