The management team of our South East region has been doing its bit to cut the company’s carbon footprint by setting up a car share scheme.
Every time directors and managers have to travel to meetings or site visits they try to minimise the numbers of cars being taken – reducing emissions and fuels costs.
Each driver makes a log of the shared journey and submits it so we can build up a picture of how many miles we are saving. We have even nominated an “energy-saving champion” to make sure we do as much as we can.
The plan runs alongside a national array of eco-friendly measures, such as installing solar panels on roofs, cycle lanes, a hydro-electric turbine, and building homes as part of the UK’s largest zero-carbon development, Graylingwell Park in Chichester.
Linden Homes South East managing director Steve Bangs said: “We include a lot of energy-saving measures and green technology in our quality homes, but this car share scheme shows how determined we are to do our bit across the board.”
