As part of a new development in the village of Cholsey in Oxfordshire, we have taken a proactive approach to community involvement and established the Cholsey Community Development Trust (CDT).
Working in partnership with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), the site, on which approximately 400 new homes are being developed, includes a Grade II listed chapel, a former Great Hall as well as a cricket pitch and pavilion. These facilities are being enhanced and retained for the future, and will be given to the CDT to manage for the benefit of the local community.
In establishing the CDT, we also helped to set up a working group which has representation from across the community, including the parish council, sports and social clubs and other local interest groups to enable a true cross-section of the people of Cholsey to feedback into the CDT to determine best use of community facilities.
Jeremy Alden, technical director at Linden Homes Chiltern, said: “We are very proud of our work with the people of Cholsey – I believe it is corporate responsibility in the community at its very best.”
