More than 250 people celebrated the official launch of a community trust set up to link residents of a new development in Oxfordshire with their neighbours.
The Cholsey Development Trust (CDT) was introduced at an event at the former Fair Mile hospital where the new Cholsey Meadows collection of homes has been delivered by our Chiltern region, Thomas Homes, Soha Housing and the Homes and Communities Agency.
The trust owns, maintain and manage the community land and buildings at the development and aims to engage and develop the community.
Over 35 local groups were at the event to give residents a flavour of what is available to them in the area, including tennis clubs, children’s activity groups, cricket teams and amateur dramatic groups.
Trust chairman Jeremy Alden said: “The evening was a huge success. The CDT has been in existence for a some time now but with the recently opened Great Hall, along with the cricket pavilion we are really able to kick start all the work we have been planning for the last year.
CDT chief officer Sasha East added “It was the perfect way to encourage as many people to be involved and really showcase what Cholsey and the surrounding areas have to offer.
"It has also given us the confidence in our future events, such as wine and cheese tastings, an Easter egg hunt, theatre events and children’s activity days.”
