Ceremony marks health centre construction landmark

Community: members of the partnership team celebrate the project’s progress

Community: members of the partnership team celebrate the project’s progress

There were celebrations to mark a major stage in the construction of a new health centre being delivered in Newcastle by our parent company, Galliford Try.

As the scheme reached the significant roofing phase our team was joined on the scaffolding by partners in the project to mark the progress on the purpose-built facility.

Among those who dropped by were Cllr Marc Donnelly, who represents the Westerhope ward on Newcastle City Council, and Pat Hillicks, a member for the Chapel House Advisory Group.

Galliford Try is working for the developer Ashley House plc, a specialist company supporting NHS trusts, health and social care services and GPs, on the site of an old church hall and clinic, demolished to make way for the new facilities.

Cllr Donnelly said: “Many people have worked for many years to bring about this new centre and I am delighted to see such progress being made.  This will ensure that the health facilities on Chapel House are fit for purpose and offer a building and services which will greatly benefit the community.”

Simon Grylls, contracts manager with Galliford Try, added:  “We have very much enjoyed working on a project which has such great community support and we have forged some very positive relationships with local people along the way.”
