Business secretary calls in to view Wallis Mews progress

Visit: (l-r) Vince Cable, Steve Bangs and Emily Nesbitt discussed local and national issues

Visit: (l-r) Vince Cable, Steve Bangs and Emily Nesbitt discussed local and national issues

The Business Secretary, Vince Cable, visited our Wallis Mews development in south-west London to see the homes, jobs and investment it has brought to his Twickenham constituency.

Mr Cable was given a guided tour of the apartments and houses in Teddington by the managing director of Linden Homes South East, Steve Bangs, and sales and marketing director, Emily Nesbitt.

High up the agenda was explaining to Mr Cable how the Linden Homes National Apprenticeship Programme is aiming to have 500 trainees on the scheme nationwide within the next three years.

Mr Cable said: “Housebuilding is crucial to our economic recovery: it generates jobs, creates apprenticeships and provides homes that we desperately need.

“I was delighted to see all these benefits being delivered at Wallis Mews in my own constituency, particularly the 50 per cent affordable provision which is being made available through the Notting Hill Housing Trust.

“The Coalition is committed to the success of housebuilding and I was pleased to hear that our recently announced Help to Buy scheme is being warmly welcomed by Linden Homes.”

Steve Bangs said: “It was a pleasure to show the Business Secretary around one of our Teddington developments so he could see first-hand the benefits housebuilding has brought to his constituents in terms of jobs, homes and investment.”
