Building the Christmas spirit with Victorian extravaganza

Christmas past: last year’s parade at the event in Hungerford which attracted about 10,000 people

Christmas past: last year’s parade at the event in Hungerford which attracted about 10,000 people

Our Thames Valley region lived up to Linden Homes’ community ethos by contributing £1,000 to Hungerford’s annual Victorian Extravaganza.

The crowd-pulling event is organised by the local chamber of commerce and attracts about 10,000 people into the town. This year will mark its 21st anniversary when it gets underway on Friday December 14th.

Our support was a major boost to a funding pot filled by businesses around the town to create a night of entertainment, hospitality and community spirit. Our money is paying for a spectacular fireworks display which will round off a grand parade through the streets.

The event also gives local charities and voluntary groups an important opportunity to raise funds and last year they collected £5,000 from the free stalls provided for the evening. To mark its 21st birthday this year some extra special moments will be added too.

Linden Homes Thames Valley managing director Peter Carpinelli said: “This is a very special annual event for Hungerford’s people and community groups, so we are delighted to get involved and help make it a success.”
