We’re supporting the next generation of women workers in the property sector by giving our backing to an awards initiative for real estate students.
The programme is for second year university students and is run by national networking group Women in Property (WiP). Regional rounds select the final candidates from which the winner will be revealed at a ceremony at Claridge’s in London.
Our North region is sponsoring WiP’s Yorkshire and North East branch. Students will present one of their projects to the judges and the best will go through to the UK final in September.
Linden Homes strategic land and planning manager Jennifer Winyard is chairman of the local WiP group and will be one of the regional judges.
She said: “The property sector, and construction in particular, is often seen as very male orientated industry. But that’s increasingly not the case and more and more talented women are arriving on the scene.
“I hope the women who will be the next generation’s project managers, planning directors and architects are encouraged by these awards and get involved.”
