Career boost: now a site manager, Glen Hilton first began as an apprentice carpenter 15 years ago
An apprenticeship 15 years ago helped one of our site managers to continue his family’s tradition of housebuilding.
Glen Hilton (33), who oversees work at our South West region’s Meldon Fields development in Okehampton, began his career as a carpentry apprentice studying towards a HNC in Site Management at Plymouth City College.
Glen, who lives in Plymouth, said: “My grandfather was a carpenter and my father was a project manager for a housing association so I was very keen to stay in the housebuilding industry.
“The apprenticeship scheme worked really well for me and enabled me to gain valuable work experience while studying. I continued to work with the company after my apprenticeship and progressed to the position of site manager shortly after.
“Linden Homes is very committed to its training programme and I would definitely recommend the scheme to anyone considering a career in construction.”
We are committed to training hundreds of people under our Linden Homes National Apprentice Programme and currently support 108 apprentices in the South West.
