Pupils at Great Rissington Primary School had their heads in the clouds when they competed to come up with flying-inspired names for the new show homes at the village’s Victory Fields development.
The collection of homes is being built on a site near Oxford with historic links to the Red Arrows, so our Thames Valley region asked the children to suggest names by researching the theme of aeroplanes and the RAF.
They worked in small teams for the reward of a £20 book token for each child in the winning groups. The best three were historic aircraft names picked by sales and marketing manager Sharon Eldred, who visited the school to present the awards.
Collecting a prize each were Elena von Speyr and Grace Taylor for “Buckingham”; Alex Hope and Faye Bedwell for “Whitworth”; and Jack Burroughs, Henry Smyth and Archie Sumner for “Hawker”.
Headteacher Liz Bannister said: “The children had great fun researching aeroplanes and came up with a lot of suggestions. The lucky winners will enjoy spending their book tokens and it was nice for them all to contribute to the character of Victory Fields.”
Sharon Eldred added: “It’s great to have input from local youngsters into new homes so close to where they live. At Linden Homes we’re dedicated to involving the community in developments and the brilliant response we’ve had here helps to show why!”
