We pride ourselves on our homes’ combination of quality and character, but it was the mix of much-needed apprenticeships and affordable housing that excited a visiting local MP and council leader.
Anne-Marie Morris MP was joined by Councillor Jeremy Christophers, the leader of Teignbridge Council, on a tour round our South West region’s Ogwell Brook contemporary development in Newton Abbot.
The pair were impressed with the smart apartments and stunning houses – especially the affordable homes being constructed with the help of 100 apprentices recruited in 2011 and 2012 learning skills to become the next generation of talented builders.
Mrs Morris said: “I’m pleased to have seen the Linden Homes development for myself. It’s important that we ensure there is enough affordable housing in this great part of the country, so I’m glad to see that 56 affordable homes have been included within the development.
“I also welcome the local jobs the building works have provided. The opportunity for our young people to take on apprenticeships is a valuable starting place for their lives ahead.”
Cllr Christophers added: “I think we need to acknowledge what positive development can bring: affordable homes, jobs, apprenticeships and significant financial contributions to the communities of Teignbridge. This all helps address many of the issues we face locally.”
