Nesting: we’re installing 25 nests for swifts and the same number of bat boxes
Our South West region is building homes both for people and wildlife at one of its developments in Cornwall.
At Camborne, as well as high quality houses and apartments for its customers, we’re constructing accommodation for swifts and bats so that once the development has taken shape, there will still be space for the local wildlife.
The creatures will be able to take shelter in small boxes built unobtrusively into the walls, and the plan is to install about 25 of the units.
It’s a similar story to measures Linden Homes takes around the country to minimise its impact on the flora and fauna that surrounds its developments, including relocating Great Crested Newts, diverting a path away from a badger sett, and protecting slowworms.
Linden Homes South West site manager Paul Grayston said: “Part of the reason residents enjoy living in the south west is the nature that surrounds them, so we want to do our bit to protect that – while also providing homes for people to live.”
Our South West region is currently building homes in Camborne, Redruth, Truro, Duporth, Grampound, Wadebridge, Penryn, Plymouth, Totnes, Okehampton, Exeter, Exminster, Ogwell, Paignton and Kingsteignton.
