Grant Shapps, MP for Welwyn Hatfield and Conservative Party Chairman, has welcomed the delivery of new homes at our Chiltern region’s latest scheme in Welwyn.
Mr Shapps was taken on a guided tour of the 150-home site by Linden Homes Divisional Managing Director Tom Nicholson, Land Director Nick Laugharne and Marketing and Communications Manager Naomi Burrell.
As well as seeing the progress of the build, Mr Shapps also spoke with one of the local apprentices working on the development, Lloyd Matthews, who outlined the opportunities he had gained.
Mr Shapps said: “It was a pleasure to visit the site and meet the apprentices that Linden Homes and its contractors have taken on between them. It proves that the building of homes creates jobs for local businesses and also gives young people the skills and experience they need to be successful.
“I was impressed by the quality of the housing being built and the efforts taken to ensure that the development retains the character of this local landmark.”
Tom Nicholson added: “At this site alone, we have created 204 jobs and 15 apprenticeships; demonstrating that when we build, we look to build local homes by local people.”
Wherever possible we source our bricks from the UK.
The blocks we use to build your home are the most energy efficient available and 80% of material within the blocks is recycled material - this saves heat loss from our homes and thus reduces CO2 emissions.
