With the summer holidays approaching, our North West region visited Medlock Primary School in Brunswick, Manchester, to advise pupils on how to stay safe around building sites.
Over 60 children, aged nine to 11, listened to a safety presentation from sales manager Sian Pitt and site manager Gary Bailey. They were joined by special guest Ivor Goodsite, the mascot for the national Considerate Constructors Scheme.
The school is close to the New Brunswick development where we are currently building 500 new homes as part of the wider £100 million regeneration programme for Brunswick.
Headteacher Miss Herbert, said “As many of the children who attend Medlock live in the area, it is a great opportunity for them to hear first-hand about the dangers of playing around building sites.
“The children really enjoyed having Ivor visit the school and the presentation was enjoyable but informative, allowing the children to learn that building sites can have hidden dangers that they need to be aware of.”
Sian said: “We have really enjoyed visiting the school and engaging the children who live within the Brunswick area. Some of the pupils asked some really interesting questions and we are glad we are able to help to keep them safe during the holidays.”
