It’s child’s play for youngsters' grand designs

Enthusiasm: area sales manager Warren O’Callaghan with some of the children

Enthusiasm: area sales manager Warren O’Callaghan with some of the children

Designing a home fit for a favourite toy of fictional character was child’s play for preschool youngsters in Lincolnshire who we invited to take part in an art competition.

The children were challenged to design the kind of house they would like to add to Linden Homes North’s new collection of properties at Red Hall Gardens in the market town of Bourne.

The deputy manager of Headstart Nursery, Di Perry, approached us with the idea as a way of giving the youngsters an insight into housebuilding.

She said: “This has been a really fun project and the children have all been very enthusiastic to get creative and learn a little about the environment around them.”

The trio of winners were Lydia Myson (4) who designed a house for Alvin and the Chipmunks, Selina Joyce (3) for her house for CBeebies favourite Mr Tumble, and Gwyneth Jones (4) for her Peppa Pig house.

Linden Homes North area sales manager Warren O’Callaghan said: “We received a wonderful reception from the nursery and the children – all keen to show their designs.

“They certainly let their imaginations run wild and the entries were superb. It was very tricky to have to choose only three winners.”
