As pupils enjoy the start of weeks off school, our South West region has issued a timely warning that building sites are not playgrounds.

Each year children are injured and even killed as a result of construction site accidents in the UK – so one of the dads in our team spoke out to highlight the dangers and reduce the numbers of youngsters coming to harm.

Tim Douglass, Linden Homes South West production director said: “Playing on building sites can have fatal consequences and it is a real concern for me, especially as a father, that children may try to enter these very dangerous places.

"Construction sites are not playgrounds and whilst they may seem exciting to children, they are not places to play.”

Tim added: “We regularly host site visits for school children and their teachers in attempt to raise awareness of the potential dangers.

“Linden Homes does have strict and visible guidelines in place and each construction site is securely locked up each day.”
